Dragons feast on the Riviera

April 13, 2026
#GD Estoril Praia#FC Porto

If GD Estoril Praia thought they could provide anything more than a scenic backdrop for FC Porto’s title coronation, they were sorely mistaken. The Estádio António Coimbra da Mota is a lovely place for a weekend stroll, and that is exactly what the league leaders did on Sunday afternoon, picking up a 3-1 win that was as comfortable as a pair of worn-in slippers.

Porto arrived on the coast looking to shake off a minor dip in form, and it took them precisely fourteen minutes to remind everyone why they are currently sitting five points clear at the summit. Pepê, ever the opportunist, ghosted into the box to provide a clinical finish that effectively ended the contest before the local fans had even finished their first bifana.

The second goal was a masterclass in unintentional comedy. Xeka, apparently feeling generous towards the visiting side, decided to double Porto’s lead himself with a SPECTACULAR own goal in the 32nd minute. It is always nice when the opposition does your job for you, especially when you are chasing a Primeira Liga trophy. Porto went into the break two goals up, and Estoril looked like a team that had already mentally checked into their summer holidays.

The second half was largely a training exercise for the Dragons. Victor Froholdt added a third in the 72nd minute, officially turning the lights out on any lingering Estoril delusions. While Yanis Begraoui managed to claw back a consolation goal for the hosts six minutes later, it was about as meaningful as a chocolate teapot in a heatwave.

This result leaves Porto in a COMMANDING position at the top of the table. With 76 points from 29 games, they now sit five points ahead of Sporting CP. With Sporting and Benfica set to tear each other apart in the next round, the Dragons are essentially watching their rivals play a high-stakes game of Russian roulette from the safety of a comfortable cushion.

For Estoril, who started and ended the day in 7th place, a third consecutive defeat confirms their status as the league's most polite hosts. Ultimately, this wasn't a match; it was a STATEMENT. Porto is coming for the crown, and if you're going to hand them goals on a silver platter, they aren't going to say no.
