The Dea faces the Inter steamroller

Inter Milan are currently treating Serie A like a personal playground, sitting comfortably at the TOP of the table with 67 points while everyone else fights for the crumbs. Simone Inzaghi has turned this team into a machine that produces wins more consistently than his own post-match excuses for refereeing. With 22 wins in 28 games, the only thing Inter fans have to worry about these days is whether the club’s owners can find enough spare change under the sofa to pay the electricity bill.

Lautaro Martinez continues to bully defenders with the enthusiasm of a man who knows he is the best player in a league where the competition is frequently ASLEEP. Behind him, Federico Dimarco is racking up assists like he’s playing against children, while Marcus Thuram is proving that sometimes, the sequel actually is better than the original. They are favorites, they know it, and they’ll probably spend half the match looking at their reflection in the Scudetto trophy they’ve already mentally engraved.

Then there’s Atalanta. Gianiero Gasperini’s band of overachieving hipsters are currently 7th, which is exactly where you’d expect a team that plays like they’ve had four double espressos before kickoff to be. They have 46 points and a goal difference that suggests they either score four or forget where the goal is entirely. Gianluca Scamacca is still trying to prove he’s more than just a very expensive tattoo collection, while Nikola Krstovic has brought his goal-scoring boots from Lecce but seemingly left his consistency in the locker room.

Gasperini will undoubtedly spend the ninety minutes waving his arms like a frustrated conductor whose orchestra is playing the wrong symphony. His team is capable of brilliance, but against this Inter side, they usually find a way to collapse under the weight of their own tactical complexity. Expect Inter to absorb the initial frantic energy of the Bergamo boys before clinical finishing reminds everyone why the title race has been OVER since February.

Prediction: Inter Milan 3-1 Atalanta
