The Panda takes on the Lyon cubs in rainy Galicia

If you haven’t visited Vigo in March, don’t bother bringing sunglasses. Bring a boat. The Balaidos is currently less of a football pitch and more of a scenic wetland, which is exactly how Celta Vigo likes it. The Galicians find themselves sitting 6th in La Liga, a position achieved primarily through a stubborn refusal to actually lose games, having racked up 10 draws this season. They are the human equivalent of a "Check Engine" light: consistently present, slightly worrying, but somehow still running.

Borja "El Panda" Iglesias has been the main reason for their European adventure, bagging 11 goals and proving that sometimes all you need is a man who looks like he owns a very successful artisanal coffee shop to lead your line. Behind him, the eternal Iago Aspas continues to defy the laws of aging, still pulling strings like a puppet master who refused to retire because he enjoys the drama too much.

Across the pond, Lyon arrives in town sitting 4th in Ligue 1 and looking suspiciously competent. It’s a strange feeling for a club that usually treats stability like a contagious disease. Their squad is a fever dream of Football Manager scouting: they’ve got Pavel Sulc leading the scoring charts with 9 goals, Corentin Tolisso still patrolling the midfield like a battle-hardened sergeant, and somehow, they’ve convinced Endrick to stop by for a loan spell.

Lyon’s attack is genuinely dangerous, but their defense remains as porous as a slice of Swiss cheese left out in the sun. They’ll look to play with FLAIR and pace, while Celta will likely try to turn the match into a 90-minute wrestling match in the mud. Expect a lot of tactical fouling, a few theatrical falls from Aspas, and at least one Lyon defender having a complete existential crisis under the Galician rain.

Prediction: Celta Vigo 1-1 Lyon
