The Bavarian steamroller ready to finish the job

Munich is lovely this time of year, unless you’re an Atalanta defender with recurring nightmares of Michael Olise dancing through your backline. After the 6-1 massacre in Bergamo last week, the second leg of this Champions League tie feels less like an elite European contest and more like a mandatory administrative task for Vincent Kompany’s men.

Bayern sit comfortably in 2nd place in the table with 21 points, breathing down the neck of a perfect Arsenal, while Atalanta are languishing in 15th with 13 points, desperately clinging to a playoff spot. The Dea usually brings chaos and flair, but right now they look more like a confused tourist lost in the Marienplatz. Their recent 1-1 draw with Inter showed some grit, but grit doesn't help much when Harry Kane is looking to boost his Golden Boot stats against a defense that currently has the structural integrity of a wet croissant.

Kompany has turned the Allianz Arena into a high-pressing furnace where dreams go to die. Olise is playing like he's controlled by a teenager on FIFA, and Jamal Musiala is making grown men question their career choices. For Gian Piero Gasperini, the goal tomorrow isn't a REMUNTADA – that’s a fairy tale for kids. The goal is simply not leaving Munich with a double-digit aggregate score that would require a public apology on the club’s official app.

Atalanta will try to play their trademark man-to-man marking system, which in their current state is essentially like trying to stop a bullet train by standing on the tracks and asking it nicely to slow down. Expect Bayern to rotate a few players, but even their bench could probably handle whatever Gasperini throws at them right now. It's going to be clinical, it's going to be cold, and it’s going to be very, very GERMAN.
